Miami, FL – May 25, 2016 The Global Wellness Summit (GWS) today announced that its 2016 agenda will take a deep dive into the unique integrative medical wellness offerings of Europe, a continent that pioneered the medical/wellness concept for the world.

Delegates to the 10th anniversary Summit in Tyrol, Austria will hear from numerous pioneers in medical wellness, including Henri Chenot, Founder of the Chenot Group, which operates wellness centers around the world based on the Chenot Method, and is the author of several books on health and wellness; Dr. Christian Harisch, CEO and owner of Lanserhof Group in Austria; Dr. Harald Stossier, Director of the Viva Mayr Medical Clinic in Austria; and Dr. Harry F. König from Brenners Park Hotel and Spa. Find a full list of speakers.

As preventable diseases continue to rise and healthcare costs soar, the integration of traditional medicine and wellness is one of the most critical trends in the world today. Europe has historically been ground zero for developing integrated wellness approaches that focus on prevention versus cure; and, at this year’s Summit, delegates will gain insight into these pioneering programs and learn where they are headed in the future.

“Europe has a long and extremely successful history of developing life-changing wellness destinations that harness the best of modern and holistic medical approaches, creating programs so effective that clients return year after year,” said Susie Ellis, GWS Chairman and CEO. “Decades of positive results can’t be ignored – and the entire spa and wellness industry can learn a tremendous amount from these leaders.”

Ellis continued, “Hosting the Summit in the heartland of medical wellness gives us the unique ability to attract people from the very top of this field.”

Brenners Park Hotel & Spa – Long known for its strong medical credentials, the hotel, located in the German spa town of Baden-Baden opened a new luxury spa, Villa Stéphanie, in 2015, specializing in beauty, detox & nutrition, emotional and medical care, which directly connects to Haus Julius, a facility with top medical experts in various fields, including GP, dentistry, dermatologic aesthetics, gynecology, physiotherapy and preventative health check-ups.

Chenot Method – Created by Henri Chenot, the Chenot Method is available in dedicated centers, including the flagship Hotel Palace Merano in Italy and the soon-to-open Chenot Palace in Azerbaijan, as well as in luxury hotels and spas across Europe and Africa. The centers are world-renowned for their personalized medical, aesthetic and dietetic treatments and programs.

Lanserhof – For over three decades, Lanserhof has offered its LANS Med Concept, which combines traditional naturopathy and state-of-the-art medicine to treat both mind and body, and is available at three premier destinations including the flagship Lanserhof in Austria that is currently undergoing refurbishment, an urban wellness center in Berlin and two German destinations, including its most recent, luxury property in Tegernsee.

Viva Mayr – Based on the “Mayr cure” developed in 1920 by Dr. Franz Mayr, the clinic focuses on long-term health through preventative medicine, including a famously strict (and successful) detox plan and individualized treatment programs.
