Richard Gere

Richard Gere has been a visionary leader in humanitarian and environmental efforts for more than 30 years. He is the co-founder of the Directors for the International Campaign for Tibet. For the past 10 years, Richard has been involved in a property development called “Xala” on the Pacific Coast of Mexico, in the state of Jalisco. Xala is a development that aims to create a replicable model of regenerative development that restores the environment, includes the local communities and offers a landscape for living well. In 2023, realizing that a holistic development plan must be approached from a regional perspective, Richard helped expand the vision by supporting and leading the Sierra A Mar (Ridge to Reef) project – a strategic plan for sustainable and regenerative coastal development that will bring economic prosperity and security to the people living in the region. This project is deeply anchored in the protection and restoration of ecosystems, biodiversity, and natural resources.
